David Campbell, 67, won the prize for Make a Note to Vote For My Goat. ‘‘It’s about a mayoral campaign between the incumbent, salt-of-the-earth woman, and someone’s pet goat,”

Campbell said. Since retiring from St Leonard’s College, he has written opinion pieces for The Age and published a collection of short stories, Morning Light, in 2007.
