In an article in this paper on May 30, 2012, Dr Sarah Laurie, Medical Director of the Waubra Foundation, cited Professor Leventhall’s 2003 DEFRA (UK) study of the health effects of windfarms as “relevant” and “credible”, and supporting infrasonic illness.

Due to persistent misrepresentation, however, in September 2004 Professor Leventhall wrote “I can state quite categorically that there is no significant infrasound from current designs of wind turbines”.

Dr Laurie also alluded to Professor Style’s study of the Eskdalemuir/Dunlaw windfarm with “10km effects”, however her interpretation of those findings has also been subject to rebuttal for almost a decade.

Only two examples of many. Opponents repeatedly cite studies as supporting harmful health effects, but reading the actual source material cited reveals the conclusions are exactly the opposite, that there is no such evidence.

The kindest interpretation that can be put on this is that opponents like the Waubra Foundation is shockingly sloppy in its research. There is also a less charitable interpretation.

In contrast, wind farm opponents don’t cite Dr Bob Thorne’s 2010 Report No 1537 on the Waubra Wind Farm despite it being commissioned by locals to prove the very point – for the simple and embarrassing reason that it doesn’t.
