THE Boyup Brook men’s hockey teammade it through to their third consecutive B Grade grand final in the Central Great Southern Hockey competition.
After narrowly missing out on a top four and A Grade qualifying position, the Boyup team entered the B Grade finals series, playing Kojonup No 2 on September 8.
They got off to a flying start with captain Daniel Bleechmore scoring in the first minutes of the game with a fantastic reverse stick goal from the top of the goal circle.
Bleechmore’s tenacity continued as he scored again in the first half.
Kojonup No 2 came out strong in the second half, clawing their way back into the match by scoring a goal.
Boyup’s defence was strong and Kim Gardiner was pivotal at centre-half back creating opportunities up forward. A penalty stroke was awarded to Boyup Brook, with Bleechmore scoring his third goal and securing the win for his team.
Boyup, despite some injury concerns, should go into the grand final as favourites.
They will face the winner of the preliminary final on Saturday at 12pm in Woodanilling.
