Cummins women’s golf
CUMMINS women played a stableford event last Tuesday, with four seasons blowing in throughout the day.
Great excitement was experienced on notorious number 17 hole by Claire Holman who, enjoying every golfer’s dream, watched her ball disappear into the par three hole to score a hole in one.
She stood on tip toes to watch this wonderful experience happen exclaiming “I think it’s gone in”.
Her doubting Thomas playing partner wasn’t so sure, as she wasn’t in a position to watch the ball go in. However, still not totally convinced, they walked over the bridge and onto the scrape and there, just like a ferret stuck in a hole while chasing a rabbit, was her ball!
Congratulations and well done to her, who now joins the elite club earning a spot on the hole in one honour board at the clubhouse.
Division one winner was Bev Branson with 35 points and division two winner was Debbie Moroney with 34 points. Kathy Modra was runner-up with 31 points.
Junice Bache with 12 points was the winner of the nine-hole event.
Nearest the pins: Joyleen Pedler on hole seven, Claire Holman on 12, and Nita Howell on four.
Novelty for the day was the most drives on the fairways. Bev Branson won division one on a countback from Liz Blacker with 16 fairway drives. Division two was won by Carmel Sheehan with 17 fairway drives and the nine holes was won by Doreen Hall with six.
Deb Moroney broke her handicap from 43 to 42, well done, and Liz Blacker had a chip in on number 11.
Junice Bache presented Lyn Lemmey-Secker with the Patroness Trophy, which she won on August 29 and as she will be away for the presentation of trophies at the end of the season, Mrs Bach was pleased to present Lemmey-Secker with her well earned trophy and wished her well for her journey to the UK and Ireland.
Women’s chairman Judy Holman was thrilled to present her sister-in -law Claire, with her hole in one trophy. Mrs Holman and her husband Ian are the proud donors of the trophy, which incidentally Mrs Holman has won three of in past years on the Cummins course.
The 19th proved to be a night of joviality, with a small band of members helping celebrate Claire Holman’s mighty fine feat of golf stardom!
See you this week, the last day to make a memorable impression to your handicaps.
