An aborted race meeting in Kalgoorlie could have ramifications beyond the local racing club’s finances, with two industry identities arrested following a pub brawl.
Yesterday’s meeting, which included the $110,000 Boulder Cup, had to be called off because of a water-logged section of the track.
In the hours after the calling-off, an altercation – understood to involve several racing identities – took place at the Exchange Hotel.
According to police, the incident revolved around a game of pool.
A 29-year-old man, reported to be a leading jockey, has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
A 70-year-old man has been charged with unlawful wounding.
