In defending his government’s decision to slash $1.7 billion from the education budget – including cutting 1800jobs – the Member for Wagga, Daryl Maguire said in The Daily Advertiser on Thursday, September 13; “Times are tough. Make no mistake, no one likes making these decisions … but NSW does not have a bottomless money bit”.
If NSW really is short of money, maybe theLiberal-National government could have started saving money by canning the $8.5 billion north-west rail link in Sydney.
Surely, Mr Maguire, the education of thenext generation ismore important than securing the votes ofthose living in marginal electorates innorth-western Sydney with a railway line which is of no benefit to the people of Wagga?
