Ready to catch the vibe: Voula Thymianos will be taking photos at Oatley Lions Festival on October 20OATLEY Lions Festival is one of the highlights of the year for Voula Thymianos of Oatley and her family.
“We love the family atmosphere, the arts and crafts, and the Harley-Davidson rides are a favourite,” she said.
Mrs Thymianos will be taking her camera to have a go at winning the festival’s photo competition. An enthusiastic hobby photographer, she is determined to capture the atmosphere and compete for some great prizes.
The competition’s theme is “What does your community mean to you?” with categories:
■ Photos taken at the festival (open age).
■ Recent photos taken in St George (open age category and up to 15 years).
Mrs Thymianos expects there will be no shortage of great photo opportunities given the number of festival attractions.
Photographers can submit three photos each by 9pm on Tuesday, October 23.
Photos initially will need to be low resolution 72dpi (JPG) and entrants should use their surname when naming the photo files (for example, smith_001.jpg). Finalists will be asked to supply their photos in a high resolution of 300dpi.
A judging panel will be headed by Leader chief photographer John Veage.
The awards will be presented at a post-festival function at Oatley Hotel on Tuesday, October 30, and the photos will be on display at the Commonwealth Bank, Oatley, for two weeks.
Participating photographers will retain copyright on their photos but will permit their use to promote the 2013 festival.
