A SYLVANIA man, 36, who allegedly head-butted and kicked a police officer in the chest when asked to leave a Cronulla bar early on Sunday was given bail to to appear in court next month.
Miranda policealleged the man refused to leave 2230 Restaurant & Bar in Cronulla Street was taken out of the premises with the help of security staff about 1am. It is alleged police used capsicum spray on the man and another man who tried to intervene outside. Both men were arrested and it is alleged the man, 36, kicked an officer in the chest as he was being escorted to a police truck.
Police charged the man with failing to quit a licensed premises, assaulting police, resisting police, hindering police and offensive language.
He was granted bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on October 11. The second man was released pending further inquiries.
The injured officer was treated at Miranda police station for a small cut to his mouth.
