AT THE start of the season Ryuji Miyazawa turned up at Blacktown City FC with neither fanfare nor a bulging CV, looking for a run.
He soon showed he was worth a spot with some stunning strikes at the start of the Football NSW Premier League season.
Miyazawa struck again against Sydney Olympic in the sudden-death semi-final against Sydney Olympic at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday.
His opportunistic goal in the 49th minute gave Blacktown City their 1-0 win against the defending premiers and took them into this weekend’s grand final qualifier against Marconi.
The goal came after Adam Jenner showed pace and composure to get to the right-hand line.
He centred to Miyazawa, who cleverly diverted the ball past Olympic goalkeeper Paul Henderson with a lunging effort.
This was a win for hard graft and perseverance after Olympic dominated for large spells.
Blacktown coach Mark Crittenden was ecstatic.
“The opening exchanges were very fast-paced and they could have had a few goals, though we hit back and could have scored a couple ourselves,” he said.
Awaiting this weekend’s winner will be Bonnyrigg White Eagles, runaway 15-point minor premiers.
