The pole which sits in the middle of the path.A TELEGRAPH pole poking out of a section of the new footpath on Myall Way, Tea Gardens has had passers-by baffled.
“I’ve certainly never seen a dual-use footpath with a telegraph pole in the middle,” Tea Gardens resident Jerry Guiness said.
His son Chris said the pole in the centre of the footpath would be a hazard, especially at night.
Councillor Len Roberts said the council could not move the poles to build the new foot path because it was up to the electricity provider.
“The provider has plans to upgrade them in the next 12 months anyway,” Cr Roberts said.
Cr Roberts said upgrading the footpath while leaving the telegraph poles where they were was safer than leaving the road without a footpath for another year without a footpath.
“The council will make sure the pole is visible,” he said.
