The Executive and Members of the Guyra sub-Branch of the Returned and Services League (RSL) of Australia elected to make a presentation to Mrs Nancy Davidson, for her ongoing tireless work fundraising for OUR RSL, as well as for Legacy on Wednesday September 5.
The Certificate of Appreciation is one of the highest awards that the RSL can present to someone who is not a Member of the RSL. The Certificate was presented by Mr Ted Mulligan, O.A.M., at last Wednesday’s monthly meeting of the Hospital Auxiliary, in the presence of just some of her peers (Nancy is involved with many more charities).
The Citation on the Certificate reads:
“Let it be known, under these signatures, that Mrs Nancy Davidson, herself the widow of a World War II Prisoner of War, held by the Imperial Japanese Army; has been the staunchest and LAST member of what was once the Guyra RSL sub-Branch Women’s Auxiliary. Even as the lone and last member of a dissolved organisation, Mrs Davidson has taken it upon herself to organize the only two fund-raising days in the RSL year – ‘Tin Hat’ Day in April, and ‘Poppy Day’ in November. Without Mrs Davidsons’ support and organisation, Guyra RSL sub-Branch would have no income other than Membership subscriptions. We, therefore, as a sub-Branch, whilst acknowledging a previous Certificate, wish to affirm Mrs Davidsons’ continuing support to our sub-Branch with this Certificate. We must also acknowledge her efforts on behalf of Legacy.”
This certificate gratefully acknowledges the ongoing support given to the Guyra RSL (NSW Branch) sub-Branch by; Mrs Nancy Davidson, a tireless worker for so many charities in the Guyra and Districts communities.
The sub-Branch Honorary Secretary, Brian L Speary said that the Guyra RSL sub-Branch requested time during the Hospital Auxiliary meeting to make the special presentation before her peers; even though Nancy is peerless in the eyes of many.
“Nancy you humble all we members of Guyra RSL sub-Branch with your “n’er say die” attitude in fundraising for so many charities in this town,” he said. “For us in this RSL sub-Branch; we have no idea how you do it; but you do, each and every Tin Hat and Poppy Day – without you we would be lost!
“Even with a busted wing you can still organise and run a fundraising day!”
