EAST Brighton and Chelsea Heights will fight it out on Sunday for the 2012 Southern Football League premiership.
Chelsea Heights won through to the grand final following a 6-point win over St Paul’s East Bentleigh in the preliminary final on Sunday.
The grand final pits the two best division one teams of the year against each other in what will be a mouth-watering showdown.
During the home-and-away season they lost just five games between them. East Brighton was undefeated until a shock loss to cellar-dwellers Heatherton in round 14.
It was Chelsea Heights which delivered the Vampires’ second loss, with a 41-point win in round 17.
They met again in the second semi-final two weekends ago in a low-scoring affair. East Brighton led the Demons from start to finish but was never able to put them to the sword, the final margin being just nine points.
Chelsea Heights will be looking for its first division one premiership, and first piece of silverware since its division two premiership in 2000.
Meanwhile East Brighton is chasing redemption for season 2011. It was the minor premiers but lost by 10 goals to St Paul’s East Bentleigh in the grand final to end the season on a sorry and sour note. .
It will be determined to go one better.
